Practice Better vs. Kajabi
Plenty of practitioners run Kajabi and Practice Better side by side. Some need both. Many don't. Here's how to tell, plus the HIPAA detail that changes the answer.
Nicole Harlow
You've got a 12-week program. Maybe a group coaching container. Maybe a self-paced course you've been meaning to launch for, oh, about 14 months.
So where does it live? Kajabi is the name everyone in the online-business world mentions. Practice Better is where your clients already are.
These two aren't really competitor. They're built for different jobs, and one detail in Kajabi's own policies makes the line between them very clear.
The quick answer
Use Practice Better for anything involving client care: intake, charting, sessions, protocols, programs for clients you're actively working with and anything containing health information.
Add Kajabi only if you're building a public-facing education business on top of your practice: courses sold at scale, an open community, a podcast with a funnel behind it.
Keep health information out of Kajabi. Its Acceptable Use Policy says you may not use the platform to collect, store or process protected health information subject to HIPAA (Kajabi AUP).

Where Kajabi shines
Kajabi is a full education business in a box. Courses, coaching, memberships, communities, podcasts, a website, email marketing and funnels, all with payments built in. If you're selling a $297 course to thousands of people who will never be your clients, it's a great fit.
It keeps evolving too. Recent plans added cohort courses and comment-to-DM, and the Pro plan now includes a branded mobile app (Kajabi pricing updates).
Where Practice Better shines
Practice Better was built for the people you actually care for. Programs live inside the same portal where clients fill out intake, book sessions, journal, message you and see their protocols. One login for your client. One place for your assistant to check.
For most practitioners, a program is client care. It includes check-ins, food logs, symptom questions and adjustments. That belongs in a platform built for health information, and Practice Better is excellent at it.
What we see in real accounts
The most common setup we untangle: a program sold on Kajabi, clients sending symptom updates in the Kajabi community, intake happening in Practice Better and nobody quite sure where the conversation should live.
The fix is usually simpler than people expect. Programs for active clients move into Practice Better. Kajabi, if it stays at all, handles the public education side with no health details involved.
The gap neither one fills
Practice Better runs your practice management beautifully. Kajabi sells education. Neither one is built to run the operational side of a health-based business: the inquiry at 9pm, the follow-up after a discovery call, the past client who'd love to come back.
That's the operational layer, and it's where Lead Better HQ comes in. It's HIPAA compliant with a BAA included and connects to Practice Better through Lead Better Connector.
Already on Practice Better and wondering what's falling through the cracks? We'll go through your business the way a new patient does and send you a short video of what we find.
Lead Better HQ is an independent company and an official Practice Better partner. We're a Practice Better affiliate, which means we may earn a commission if you sign up through our links. It never changes your price or what we recommend.
Common questions
Can I use Kajabi for a health program?
You can sell and deliver general education on Kajabi. Kajabi's own policy prohibits storing or processing HIPAA-protected health information, so client health details, intake answers and symptom tracking belong somewhere built for them.
Can Practice Better replace Kajabi?
For programs delivered to active clients, often yes. Practice Better includes programs and courses in the client portal. If you sell public courses at scale with funnels and a community, Kajabi does things Practice Better isn't built to do.
Is Kajabi more expensive?
Yes. Kajabi starts at $179/mo, while Practice Better runs $35 to $155/mo, as of October 2026.
Do I need both?
Only if you run a separate, public-facing education business. Many practitioners find Practice Better covers their programs once they move them in.

Lead Better HQ vs. HoneyBook or Dubsado
HoneyBook and Dubsado are wonderful for proposals, contracts and invoices. Both also say plainly that they aren't HIPAA compliant. Here's what that means for your practice.
Lead Better HQ vs. Kit (formerly ConvertKit)
Kit is built for creators, and it's excellent at it. If your practice grew out of a newsletter and a podcast, here's when it's time for a system built around your patients instead.
