    Practice Better vs. Healthie

Healthie and Practice Better look almost identical on a features page. In real practices they feel different. Here's where each one earns its keep.

If you're a dietitian, nutritionist or health coach, these two are probably your finalists. The feature lists look nearly the same: scheduling, charting, telehealth, a client portal, a mobile app.

So the decision comes down to two things the features page won't spell out. Do you bill insurance? And does your care run on programs?

    The quick answer

Choose Healthie if insurance billing is central to your nutrition practice, or if you're building something bigger than a practice, like a digital health company or multi-clinician group.

Choose Practice Better if your care runs on programs, protocols and ongoing client relationships, especially in functional nutrition, health coaching and integrative practices.

    Where Healthie shines

Healthie is very strong for insurance-billing nutrition practices. The ClaimMD integration starts on the Essentials plan, and Healthie has kept adding billing tools, like marking each client as insurance or self-pay.

It also scales up nicely. Healthie serves group practices and digital health companies alongside solo practitioners, with shared calendars, team roles and internal chat on its Group plan. And its 2026 updates added AI Scribe for in-person and phone sessions plus Fullscript lab ordering with results syncing into the chart (Healthie Q2 2026 recap).

    Where Practice Better shines

Practice Better is designed around the client relationship between sessions. Programs and courses, protocols, journaling, group sessions and broadcast messages to clients by tag or by program are all part of how it's built, not an upgrade tier.

If you sell 3-month packages, run group programs or guide clients through a protocol week by week, Practice Better feels like it was built for your exact day. It's our platform of choice, and we've built a lot of these accounts.

What we see in real accounts

The real cost isn't the monthly fee. It's the workaround.

A functional nutritionist on a platform that treats programs as an add-on ends up running her program in a course platform and her charting somewhere else. Now her clients have two logins and her assistant has two places to check. Pick the platform where your core offer lives natively.

    The gap neither one fills

Both are excellent. Neither one was built to run everything around the practice management: the inquiry that comes in on a Saturday, the follow-up after a free discovery call, the client who finished her program in May and would love to come back.

That's the operational layer. It's where Lead Better HQ comes in, and we connect it to Practice Better through Lead Better Connector.

Lead Better HQ is an independent company and an official Practice Better partner. We're a Practice Better affiliate, which means we may earn a commission if you sign up through our links. It never changes your price or what we recommend.

    FAQ

    Common questions

Is Healthie cheaper than Practice Better?

At the entry level, yes ($19 vs. $35). For a solo practice with a full roster, Practice Better Professional ($69, 300 clients) and Healthie Essentials ($49, 250 active clients) are close. For unlimited clients, Practice Better Plus ($99) comes in under Healthie Plus ($129). Prices change, so check both live pricing pages before you decide.

Which is better for dietitians who bill insurance?

Healthie has invested heavily in insurance billing for nutrition practices. Practice Better supports superbills and CMS-1500 forms, with claims through Claim.MD.

Which is better for group programs?

Practice Better. Programs and group sessions are core features rather than higher-tier upgrades.

    Are both HIPAA compliant?

Both state HIPAA compliance. Healthie publishes its BAA, which is accepted when you create an account ([Healthie BAA](https://gethealthie.com/baa)).
